GDCU & Core CU Merger 1st Anniversary

Events, Latest News

This Friday, we’re celebrating a very special milestone. One year since Core Credit Union and Greystones & District Credit Union came together as one organisation.

Over the past year, our merger has created new opportunities for our members, our staff and the communities we serve. Today, Core Credit Union has eight branches serving communities from Newtownmountkennedy to Dun Laoghaire, giving our members greater access to our services and support.

A year of positive change

Since the merger, our members have benefited from increased opening hours, a wider range of products and services, and greater lending options, including opportunities to refinance existing loans.

It has also been a year of celebrations, with hundreds of members winning prizes through the Core Credit Union Members Prize Draw, including many winners from our local communities.

For our staff, the merger has opened up new opportunities for career development, promotions and sharing knowledge and experience across our larger organisation. It has also given us greater capacity to support the communities we are proud to be part of.

Reflecting on the first year, Core Credit Union CEO Michael Byrne said:

Celebrating with our members

We’ll be marking our first anniversary in all Core Credit Union branches this Friday, giving our members and staff the opportunity to celebrate this important milestone together.

As we look ahead, our focus remains where it has always been on our members and our communities.

Our purpose is captured in our tagline: Live Life Better.

Whether you’re celebrating life’s high points or going through more challenging times, we want to be there every step of the way, supporting you and helping you make the most of life.

Because we merged, we are stronger together

Bringing two credit unions together has created opportunities for our teams to share knowledge, experience and ideas. This has helped us build a stronger organisation for our members and communities.

One year on, Ian, Chair of Core Credit Union, reflects on what coming together has meant and the opportunities it creates for the future.

Because we merged, we are stronger together

One year ago, Core Credit Union and Greystones & District Credit Union came together as one. Since then, members have become part of a larger local credit union, with more opportunities, greater choice and a stronger organisation behind them.

But at the heart of it all, it’s still about people, members and community.

Hear from Peter, a Core Credit Union member, on what being part of that journey has meant to him.

Because we merged, we can do more

Being a larger local credit union gives us greater capacity to support the communities we serve. There are more opportunities to get involved, support local initiatives and make a difference where it matters.

As we mark one year since the merger, Tom from the Greystones Town Team shares his perspective on the importance of community and working together.

Because we merged, our members have more

More products. More services. More choice.

Over the past year, being part of a larger Credit Union has opened up more opportunities for members, from Current Accounts and Mortgages to greater accessibility across our branch network.

Jen, from our Member Services team, explains what that means for members everyday.
